South Wales-based Capital Valley Plastics leverages Invoice Discounting for growth
A sustainable plastics manufacturer is set to continue its impressive growth trajectory by investing in new machinery and production lines in order to increase output.
Capital Valley Plastics is an award-winning business set-up by Michael Hughes as a small recycling facility in 1987. As the business grew over the years, it branched out by using recycled materials to manufacture products for the construction industry.
The business’s products include damp-proof membranes and damp-proof course, which are designed to protect properties. Capital Valley Plastics products are made from 100% recycled materials, where building regulations allow.
The business’s past and future growth is supported by, independent business funder, Bibby Financial Services that provide a £2.5m Invoice Discounting facility.
This enables the business to release cash from unpaid invoices, providing working capital to allow the Capital Valley Plastics to concentrate on future growth.
Roger Philips, Managing Director at Capital Valley Plastics, said: “Capital Valley Plastics has grown significantly since we first established the company in 1987, but sustainability remains very much at the heart of our business. We manufacture 9,000 tons worth of products each year, but use recycled plastics wherever building regulations allow. As a result, most of the products we sell are 100% recycled.
“Our efforts to proactively and relentlessly improve our technology behind every aspect of the business, means that we are able to provide cutting-edge products with a sophisticated and reputable service. Increasing demand from construction firms, coupled with our increased product range and investment in new production lines, has helped us go from strength to strength in the market place.
“Our funding partnership with Bibby Financial Services has been a key enabler of our growth over the years. We’ve been working with BFS for seven years, starting with a smaller £1 million facility. BFS has been able to extend our funding over the years in line with the growth of the business, providing extra flexibility and giving us access to the cash we needed to continue to thrive.
“BFS really got to understand our business and this is what sets it apart from other finance companies. Its tailored approach to funding is very much in keeping with our own philosophy as a business, making it the perfect business partner as we strive to grow the company further.”
Siouxsie Millard, Relationship Manager at Bibby Financial Services, said: “Capital Valley Plastics growth over the years has been really impressive. It’s success results from its dedicated staff and desire to move with the times, placing the company at the forefront of the plastics manufacturing industry.
“The Invoice Discounting facility enables the business to realise its full potential by unlocking the cash it needs to fund its ongoing operations. We are pleased to have played a role in supporting the business’s growth over the years and look forward to continuing to help Capital Valley Plastics and its team to realise its growth ambitions well into the future.”
